HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A man had to be taken to the hospital after he was hurt in a house fire in Henrico.

Fire crews arrived at the 8500 block of Ironington Terrace at 2:50 p.m. Sunday afternoon to find smoke coming from the front door of a three-story home. Inside, crews found a fire in the kitchen that had been mostly extinguished by someone living in the home. Crews were able to extinguish the rest of the fire quickly and the fire was marked under control by 3 p.m.

Investigators say the fire was accidental, caused by cooking in the kitchen. Everyone inside the home made it safely outside. One adult man was taken to VCU Medical Center with minor injuries.

"Because of the quick extinguishment, the family will only be displaced from the home for a short period of time," said Henrico Fire Captain Daniel Rosenbaum.
