NORFOLK, Va. -- Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Jesse Stevenson and his wife Danielle were getting their children ready for bed when they noticed a group of teenagers standing their car parked at the Village at Whitehurst Farm in Norfolk. The couple quickly realized one of the teens was inside the car, going through the glove compartment, WTKR reported.

Stevenson, who was wearing flip-flops at the time, did not hesitate and took off after the teens.

"Being in the military, he was just telling me it was his first instinct," Danielle told WTKR. "I thought that was pretty funny because he was in flip-flops chasing this kid down the street and caught him."

Danielle said the teen was carrying the couple's Kindle, an iPod and a neighbor's car keys. The 15-year-old may have been involved in other neighborhood break-ins, police said.

While Danielle said she was worried about her husband's safety, she was impressed with his results.

"I'm just kind of blown away that he actually caught him," Danielle said. "I think it's amazing."
