Macel Falwell’s son writes touching tweet moments after mother’s death

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Macel Falwell, widow of the late Rev. Jerry Falwell, has died. Macel’s son Jonathan Falwell shared his mother’s passing on Twitter after midnight Friday morning.

“My sweet mom slipped into Heaven just a little while ago,” he wrote. “I can’t believe I’ve been so blessed to have her in my life.”

Jonathan Falwell is pastor at Thomas Road Baptist Church. The church posted an online tribute to Mrs. Falwell.

Macel Falwell, 82, married Jerry Falwell in 1958. Jerry Falwell founded Liberty University in Lynchburg in 1971. He passed away in 2007 at the age of 73.
