RICHMOND: 9th Annual Pink Tie Gala Masquerade Ball presented by Bon Secours Cancer Institute, Saturday, October 17, 7:30pm – 12:30am at The Greater Richmond Convention Center Ballroom. Raising funds for Breast Cancer awareness, grant programs, survivor support, education and research in the Richmond community. Tickets $100, includes food, dancing to  live music, silent auctions, The Celebration Life Dance Team and free parking at The Convention Center’s parking deck at 3rd and Marshall.

47th Annual Richmond Oktoberfest!, is happening  October 16 & 17, Friday, 6pm – Midnight  & Saturday, 5pm- Midnight at the Old Dominion Building, Richmond International Raceway Complex. The oldest and most authentic Oktoberfest celebration in Virginia featuring German food and a variety of German & domestic beers, dance to polkas, waltzes, American standards music from three bands. There’s also a kids corner and men and women can sign up for the Stein Hoisting  contest. Westhampton RVA 2nd annual Party on the Avenues Sunday, October 18th, noon – 6pm, on Libbie between Patterson and Guthrie Avenues celebrating the Westhampton community, a free party  street festival with food, music, craft beer, wine and vendors from the neighborhood and new this year Westhampton RVA’s new signature vodka cocktail. Proceeds from the Party will benefit the Evelyn D. Reinhart Guest House which provides overnight accommodations to out-of town families of patients at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital. Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society, Inc. (AAHGS), 36th Annual National Genealogy Conference, October 15 -17 at the Richmond Marriott, 500 East Broad Street, conference theme Virginia, Where African-American Roots Run Deep: Family History and National Narrative. The conference features sessions on resources, research methods and historical accounts, and speakers The AAHGS ia a non-profit membership organization striving to preserve African-ancestored family history, genealogy, and cultural diversity by teaching research techniques and disseminating information throughout the community. Psychic Festival Fundraiser, Saturday, October 17, 11am – 7pm, Sunday, October 18, 12- 6pm at the Aquarian Bookshop in Carytown, 3519 Ellwood Avenue. Over 50 readers and healers donate their time and services during the two-day fundraiser. Proceeds benefits the Baby Girl Project, a non-profit located in Richmond with funds going to support school buildings in the Masai Mara region of Kenya, Africa. The 3rd annual 24-Hour Cancer Hater Challenge to benefit VCU Massey Cancer Center. The event takes place for 24 hours starting 4 p.m. Friday, October 16, through 4 p.m. Saturday, October 17. The 2015 Walk to STOP Diabetes, Saturday, October 17 at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center. Check in 8:30 am; the Walk begins at 9:30 am. Casting Directors are holding an open casting call for TURN: Washington’s Spies, Sunday, October 18th, 1-4pm at 4300 Carolina Avenue, Richmond. They are looking for Caucasian, African-American and Native American men, women and children who are thin to average build and can realistically portray people living in Revolutionary War times. Long hair is definitely a plus for both women and men but not a must. If you have an interesting, expressive face, the casting team would like to meet you!
