Radford University questioning person of interest about suspicious message

RADFORD, Va. — Radford University is alerting students and parents after an apparent threat on a social media site Monday.

On the school’s Facebook page the university said, this afternoon the Radford University Police Department was made aware of a suspicious message that was posted to the social media site Yik Yak.

The message stated, “Tonight is the night. That Radford is going to be on the news just watch. Thank you everyone.”

In an update the school said its police department has been conducting an aggressive investigation that has identified a viable person of interest. That person of interest is being questioned by the Radford University Police Department.

Radford also said their police department is exercising due diligence in light of this posting, including adding extra campus patrols. Radford police also recommends that the Radford community report any suspicious activity.
