It all started around 11 p.m. when an officer spotted a car near Libbie Avenue and Broad Street driving with its headlights turned off and without plates.
The officer tried to pull over the car, but the Ronnie sped off. Officials said that because of the suspect’s high rate of speed, the officer did not give chase, but radioed the incident into dispatch.
Additional officers near Willow Lawn and Target were alerted and spotted the suspect’s vehicle still traveling at a high rate of speed along Broad.
Police said Ronnie tried to make it through the busy intersection of Staples Mill and Broad before the traffic light turned red, but ended up slamming into two cars.
That is when police said the man jumped out of the car and tried to run off on foot. However, officers apprehended Ronnie on Broad Street.
The victims in the cars that were struck were not seriously hurt, but were taken to an area hospital to be checked out.
