Singer Selena Gomez opens up about her autoimmune disorder, Lupus and discusses being cyber bullied after wearing a bikini on Friday's “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to be broadcast at 3 p.m. on CBS 6.

On having Lupus…
Ellen: I read in Billboard Magazine today that you have been struggling with, you were diagnosed with Lupus, and that you went through chemo?
Selena: Yes.
Ellen: Is that right?
Selena: Yes.
Ellen: When did this happen?
Selena: Three years ago.
Ellen: For how long?
Selena: I mean that’s when I found it and I think it was just very complicated because I didn’t understand and then that was something that I did want to keep private until my whole life suddenly wasn’t private.
Ellen: Right, right.
Selena: So it was my moment. I’m really honestly able to relate to people and I get it.
Ellen: And what is. I don’t know what lupus is? What is it exactly?
Selena: It’s an autoimmune disease.
Ellen: And are you. Do you still have it or?
Selena: Yeah you’ll have it forever. It’s kind of one of those situations. You just have to take care of yourself.
Ellen: Well that’s a good thing to do anyway. So you’re good and healthy right now?
Selena: Yeah. Thanks.
Ellen: I’m glad to hear it.
On being cyber bullied…
Ellen: There was a picture you were on vacation. You’re in a bikini. You look fantastic. And this is the picture they said something about that you were overweight. What did they say about this?
Selena: Yeah it was the first time I’d ever been called fat.
Ellen: Unbelievable.
Selena: But it was weird because it’s not just oh she’s fat. It’s like she’s a mess. She’s gone off the deep end. I’m like because I’m on a vacation wearing a bathing suit? Actually technically that is a little too small for me, but I didn’t care.
Ellen: I don’t think they’re saying the bathing suit was small they’re saying that you’re fat.
Selena: That’s so degrading
Ellen: But you owned that. You tweeted something out.
Selena: Yeah because look I don’t what them to win. It’s so annoying when I see it all over the place and everybody thinks they can bring me down. So my immediate response was I’m gonna post a picture and I’m like “I’m happy with me ya’ll” and that was gonna be the story the next day. I wasn’t gonna let that be the story. That wasn’t the story.
Ellen: Yes you can always have the last word if you choose to. I mean sometimes we don’t want to address these things because there are so many lies out there.
Selena: I just spent my whole career doing that I think a little bit it was just so nice to be able to be like ugh I don’t care this is where I am.
Ellen: Good for you. I’m glad. It’s a lot for you. You’re 23 right? To be scrutinized and analyzed. And everybody saying what they think about you. It’s like let you just be a 23-year-old girl.
Selena gets a big surprise from Ellen.
On her love life…
Ellen: so let’s talk about your boyfriend?
Selena: I have a boyfriend?
Ellen: I don’t know, do you?
Selena: Ooh where?
Ellen: That’s how I thought I’d set it up. To like act like I know something.
Selena: No I don’t but if you have any recommendations.
Ellen: Oh sure. Well when we drink wine and talk about boys…
Selena: Ok. Yes. Yes. No I’ve been dating it’s very fun. Ish.
Ellen: Are you dating?
Selena: Yeah.
Ellen: How do you meet guys? You have to meet people within the business?
Selena: Both places. You know.
Ellen: Dating. You’re dating now?
Selena: No I mean I’ve been on a few dates.
Ellen: And then they haven’t gotten anywhere?
Selena: I mean Ish.
Ellen: They’ve gone somewhere ish. But you haven’t found a boyfriend yet. Well Taylor should hook you up. Doesn’t she meet lots of. She’s all over the place.
Selena: Hey! She’s with a stud right now.
Ellen: I know. I love him. But I’m saying there must be all kinds of.
Selena: There should be a service, a list.
Ellen: Friends of his.
Selena: It’s weird because I don’t know if I want someone who’s in the industry. Who’s not. Who kind of gets it. Who doesn’t. I don’t know. It’s weird.
Ellen: You kind of what someone in the industry because you travel so much it’s gonna be hard for someone to be at home selling life insurance.
Selena: This is a very stressful conversation I’m not even thinking about it.
Ellen: I know, I know we should be drinking while we talk about boys.
On Taylor’s squad…
Ellen: Now lets get to the important stuff. Why am I not in Taylor’s squad? Or am I and I don’t’ know it.
Selena: I mean I think you are I would assume. You got the sparkles down in your little costume when you were with Taylor. I think baking is involved.
Ellen: You have to know how to bake?
Selena: I mean you don’t have to. It helps. A lot of wine. Talking about boys and life.
Ellen: I can talk about boys. Especially if I drink wine I have a lot to say.
Selena: Oh good. Ok.
Ellen: I’ll drink a lot of wine and talk about boys.
Selena: There you go.
Ellen: She is fantastic though isn’t she?
Selena: She is great yeah.
