CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A 73-year-old woman was handcuffed after she pulled out a gun in an effort to stop an armed robbery at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Hopkins Road in Chesterfield Monday morning, according to witnesses.  Police have not yet confirmed those witnesses accounts.

The woman was later released when it was determined she had a concealed carry permit, those witnesses said. The woman never confronted the armed robber.

The suspect fled the store, but was later arrested when his car ran off the road.

An officer spotted the suspect vehicle in the area, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop," Chesterfield Police spokeswoman Liz Caroon said. "The suspect vehicle made contact with a police vehicle and did not stop and a pursuit began.
