MECHANICSVILLE, Va. -- Nearly 700 people participated in the seventh annual ReeseStrong 5K and Gold Ribbon Kids Run Saturday.

Reese, who is now  4, was just 9-months-old when a tumor was detected in her stomach. Following the surgery to remove the tumor, she was left unable to eat, speak, walk or use any of her limbs.

During her battle, her family decided to use their experience to help other families in need.

Proceeds from this year's event will help pay for the medical bills of 4-year old Grayson Dutton of Mechanicsville, 5-year old Lauren Cherry of Chesterfield and the Reese-Strong family Emergency Fund as well as childhood cancer research.

And while Grayson could not run in this weekend's race, he certainly provided a lot of moral support by cheering on runners along the route.
