Henrico man killed in Route 5 van crash, survivor walks to home for help

CHARLES CITY COUNTY, Va. -- One man was killed and one person was hurt when their van ran off Route 5 and hit a tree. The crash happened at about 1 a.m. Monday near the Henrico County - Charles City County line. The van was headed west when it crashed.

Police identified the deceased driver as James W.B. Reece, 36, of Henrico.

The person who survived the crash walked to a nearby home and called 911 for help.

The crash closed Route 5 at Carters Mill Road (Route 606). The road has since reopened.

Virginia State Police are investigating the crash.
