HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Nearly 1,000 people turned out to raise awareness about suicide prevention in Henrico County Saturday.

The "Out of the Darkness Walk" benefits the American Society for Suicide Prevention.

Speakers took the stage at Deep Run Park to share their stories about the effects of suicide on families and communities.

Organizers said more than $80,000 has been raised  to support research and advocacy and prevention.
