RICHMOND, Va. -- The race bicycle stolen from inside the downtown Marriott on East Broad Street last week has been recovered, according to Richmond Police. The bicycle, police said, was worth at least $10,000.

"My shiv outfitted by@SRAMracing @ZippSpeed @quarq @iamspecialized was so speedy it found its way home. Thx @RichmondPolice & this wonderful city," racer Evelyn Stevens tweeted.

"The stolen bicycle will race again!" Richmond Police tweeted."Officers recovered it an hour ago undamaged and returned it to the team."

Richmond Police spokesman Gene Lepley went into more detail in a subsequent email::

Acting on a tip, RPD officers located a person of interest this afternoon at 5th and Broad Streets. That man led them to the bicycle that had been stolen Thursday in the Marriott. It was undamaged and returned to the team ... That man is still being questioned.

Earlier, police said a man wearing a fedora, jean shorts, a white t-shirt and tennis shoes walked into the Marriott and removed the bicycle.

Thursday's bicycle theft came as international bicycle race teams and fans descended on Richmond for the UCI Road World Championships. Opening ceremonies for the international cycling event took place Friday night.
