ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A Conyers woman is in custody and is accused of abusing mentally challenged adults while practicing unlicensed care.

WGCL reports Lena Clark is accused of operating an unlicensed care facility in the Weatherstone subdivision in Rockdale County.

Police say the woman was housing the adults at a Motel 6 but were forced to leave. The adults were allegedly left outside all day without food, shelter or medication. They say Clark then began housing the adults at her home on the 2600 block of Harvest Drive.

Clark was arrested in August.

Detectives say Clark used to run a company called Care Oasis but was ordered to shut down. She lost her license in 2008.

“The men and women were split up where they shared rooms,” said Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Dawn Murrain. “Some slept on floors and some slept on beds. More then one person was in the same bed at the same time.”

All of the victims are now receiving proper care.
