Richmond 2015 bicycle, valued at more than $10,000, stolen from downtown Marriott

RICHMOND, Va. -- A race bicycle belonging to Team Netherlands was stolen from inside the downtown Marriott on East Broad Street, according to Richmond Police.

The theft comes as international bicycle race teams and fans descend on Richmond for the UCI Road World Championships.

Opening ceremonies for the international cycling event get underway Friday night.

A man wearing a fedora, jean shorts, a white t-shirt and tennis shoes walked into the Marriott at about 6:30 p.m. and removed the bicycle, according to Richmond Police.

Bike theft suspect

Police described the suspect as a 30 - 45 year old black man who weighs approximately 190 pounds.

The race bicycle, investigators said, had a value of at least $10,000.
