How to grab the best view during UCI Road World Championship races

RICHMOND, Va. — There are four courses and 12 races over the nine-days of the UCI Road World Championship races.

Spectators can watch anywhere along the course, but there are also better vantage points and sponsored fan zones. Fan zones offer bathrooms, Jumbotrons, food and drink vendors.

The information below can be printed to have a  handy-dandy guide to all nine days of courses, fan zones, best vantage points as suggested by Richmond 2015, and podium award times. A printable version of those courses an be found here: Where to view UCI races and find Fan Zones.

Note about FanFest. It is open from Sunday, Sept. 20 through Monday, Sept. 27, from 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. every day. All the below amenities will be there every day. The FanFest is where several races start, but where every race finishes.

The info below is organized by date, listed course, fan zones, spectator spots, and podium awards.

FANFEST 2015
Where: Greater Richmond Convention Center – Broad and 5th Streets
When: Open 9/20- 9/27 | 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
Head to the beautifulbotanical garden to watch the cyclists at the start of the morning’s course from a classic Richmond weekend spot

These spots along today’s courses offer great views:

  • In the morning, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., teams will be testing the Team Time Trial course.

  • As the action on the course concludes, the party will just be getting started. Head to FanFest to witness history as each World Champion receives the iconic Rainbow Jersey at the Official Podium Award Ceremony. Free and open to the public, FanFest features a beer garden, live entertainment and more than 100 exhibitors.
