RICHMOND, Va. —  We had a very wet start to summer in late June.  Almost three inches of rain fell in just the first ten days of summer.  The wet pace continued through July with nearly six inches of rainfall.

The pattern shifted from a wet one to a drier one.  Rainfall in August fell shy of three inches, and was nearly two inches below normal.  September thus far has continued that trend with minimal rainfall.    Rainfall over just the past six weeks has been about 2.5″ below normal.

A couple of fronts for the Wednesday through Friday period will bring chances for scattered storms.  The high humidity will allow any storms that develop to produce torrential downpours.  These will be localized, so not all locations will significant rain.
