RICHMOND, Va -- A car crashed into a south Richmond daycare building early Wednesday morning. The crash happened at about 4 a.m., so the daycare located in the 3000 block of Broad Rock Boulevard was closed.

The car knocked down a power pole before hitting the side of Smart Cookie Learning Center, police said. The driver got out of the can and ran after the crash.

There was minimal damage done to the side of the building. About two dozen people were left without power while crews repaired the damaged power pole.
