DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. — A fatal truck crash has closed the right lane of Interstate 85 north in Dinwiddie.
“Virginia State Police are on scene with a fatal vehicle crash involving a Ryder Box Truck,” Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick said.
Police said the crash occurred around 3:15 pm.
Virginia State Police said the investigation revealed the male driver was traveling north on Interstate 85 in the right lane when the truck ran off the road to the right overcorrecting left then back right overturning and coming to rest on the right shoulder and ditch line.
The driver of the truck was partially ejected and died at the scene, he was wearing a seat-belt. The passenger was not injured and he was wearing a seat-belt also.
The crash happened near mile marker 44 and the town of McKenney.
The name of the victim is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
Fatigue is being considered a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
