ROANOKE, Va. — The Roanoke-based television station, WDBJ 7, returned to the air Thursday morning, one day after journalist Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward were killed during a live interview.

The WDBJ news team returned with heavy hearts Thursday morning, many tweeting and thanking everyone for their support.

Kimberly McBroom, Steve Grant and Leo Hirsbrunner joined hands and paused for a moment of silence during the broadcast at 6:45 a.m., the same time when two members of the news team were shot and killed Wednesday while filming a live television report at Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, Va.

Reporter and anchor Nadine Maeser posted on her Facebook page asking everyone to wear either turquoise or maroon in honor of Parker and Ward. She wrote that Parker’s favorite color was turquoise and Ward’s was maroon for his alma mater, Virginia Tech.
