CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. -- A woman is dead after her car collided with a Mack truck on Lady Smith Road in Caroline County.
Dae Lee, who works at Caroline Supermarket said Gwendolyn Gray was one of his regular customers. He said she was buying gas at the store Tuesday afternoon.
CBS 6 obtained surveillance video from the store that captures the moments before the horrific accident.
The video shows Gray pumping gas then getting into her car and getting ready to turn on Route 639 in Caroline County.
Seconds later Gray was was hit after a Mack truck traveling on that same road went around a curve, crossed the double yellow line and turned over onto Gray's car.
"We were trying to help, but it was too heavy," said Dae Lee.
According to Virginia State Police the accident spilled tree stumps and limbs onto Gray's car.
Police said Gray wasn't wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
The driver of the truck, Gary Hudson wasn't injured in the crash, but was charged with reckless driving.
