Police think car found in Falling Creek Reservoir was stolen

RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond Fire crews responded to a car that went into the water at the Falling Creek Reservoir Thursday morning.

The call came in shortly after 7 a.m., for an accident near the  intersection of Hopkins Road and Collier Hill Road.

Officials told CBS 6 reporter Jasmine Norwood that no one is in the car and that they believe the car was might have been stolen and purposely pushed or driven into the water.

Divers did go into the water to make sure no one was inside.

Richmond Police are in the process of tracking down the car's owner via the license plates.

A wrecker pulled the car from the water around 8:15 a.m.
