CHESTERFIELD, Va. -- Chesterfield Police said they have arrested four suspects wanted in connection with a robbery at Southern Police Equipment Supply.

The guns are in Newport News, according to Thomas A. Faison of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Federal authorities said that five arrests have been made. One juvenile has been picked up in connection to this robbery, but has separate charges pending in Newport News.

The names and charges of the people arrested are not yet available.

Faison said it is unknown if they will uncover all weapons stolen in the burglary.

He did say they are confident they have all the suspects in custody that are directly related to the burglary.

A number of handguns and rifles were stolen early in the morning August 7 when two male suspects broke into the business at 7609 Midlothian Turnpike, across from State Police headquarters, and stole multiple firearms.

Three female suspects were seen on surveillance footage at a nearby convenience store.

“After leaving the convenience store, the female suspects entered a blue sedan, drove to Southern Police Equipment and picked up the two male suspects,” said Liz Caroon with the Chesterfield Police Department.

Karen Allan Ballengee said it appeared the thieves disabled power to her Midlothian Turnpike store, formerly known as Southern Gun World, and entered the business through the roof.

Once inside, she said, the thieves moved quickly and used a hammer to smash a handgun display case. The thieves also grabbed rifles on their way out of the store.

There was a $6,000 reward offered for information leading to an arrest.Police said the ATF offered a $2,500 reward, which was matched by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Crime Solvers offered a reward of up to $1,000.
