NORFOLK, Va. -- Investigators are working to determine what started a fire at a Norfolk hotel Wednesday morning. The fire at the M Star Hotel on Shore Drive in Oceanview was reported just before 9 a.m. Everyone made it out of the hotel unharmed, WTKR reported.
Some of the evacuated occupants told WTKR they did not hear smoke alarms.
"If it wasn’t for the person banging on the door, we’d have been in there and we wouldn’t have been alive," one man staying in the hotel said.
More than 100 firefighters from Norfolk, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach responded to the hotel to help fight the fire.
This is a developing story.
