Test results back from Stony Creek ‘foul water’

DINWIDDIE, Va. -- Health officials want you to avoid contact with water from Stony Creek.

They say traces of fecal coliform have been found in the water.

That's a bacteria that lives in water and is associated with animal or human waste.

Officials say it isn't threatening itself but it could indicate other harmful bacteria's are present

A week ago, a foul smell and discolored water prompted Dinwiddie officials to issue a warning about Stony Creek.

In addition to not swimming, the county advised people refrain from fishing and canoeing. All contact with creek water is recommended at this time.
