Former Va. governor Jim Gilmore files presidential paperwork

RICHMOND, Va. — Former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore has filed the paperwork to officially run for president in 2016, according to the Federal Election Commission. Gilmore becomes the 17th major Republican contender for the White House.

In addition to his time in the Virginia Executive Mansion, Gilmore also served an Attorney General of Virginia, an Army Intelligence Specialist and an attorney. He also chaired the Republican National Committee and ran for president in 2008.

Earlier this month, he spoke with Bill Fitzgerald about his anticipated presidential announcement.
