MECHANICSVILLE, Va. — The Hanover Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an early morning house fire that’s left two people without a home.

Fire-EMS crews were dispatched to 8299 McClellan road around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to Battalion Chief J. T. Williams. Two people inside the home were awakened by the smoke alarm. Both were able to get out of the house safely before crews arrived on scene.

Fire crews brought the fire under control in about an hour. No one was injured in the fire, but the house is a total loss, Williams said.

“Along with working smoke alarms, Hanover Fire-EMS reminds citizens to have a fire escape plan, and to get out and stay out if you have a fire,” Williams said.
