HOPEWELL, Va. --More than 2,000 BBQ fans turned out for the second annual “Get Your Butts to Broadway” festival in downtown Hopewell Saturday afternoon.

It was all about the ribs-- brisket-- pulled pork-- and bar-b-que sauce at the competition where locals showcased their grill master skills all for a chance to named the “Best Butt on Broadway” for 2015.

A five-judge panel grades the meat on presentation, taste and flavor, tenderness, appearance and texture of the dishes.

While this event is known for the delectable food, it is all about bringing the community together.

Evan Kaufman, who organized the event, said it is much more than a festival.

“We are all about rebuilding the community spirit, having fun building the sense of community and a sense of pride in Hopewell and returning this kind of unique identity and sense of place to the people who live here,” Kaufman said.

The festival also featured food trucks, beer trucks and live music.
