Motorcyclist dies after being thrown 25 feet along I-95

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A 58-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 95 north near the Henrico-Hanover line Friday morning, according to Virginia State Police. The crash, which happened at mile marker 85.5, was reported at 6:30 a.m., police said.

“A 2004 Victory motorcycle was traveling north on I-95, when it ran off the right side of the road, struck the guardrail throwing the driver about 25 feet down an embankment,” Sgt. Steve Vick, a spokesman for Virginia State Police said. “The motorcycle continued north on I-95 traveling about 75 feet crossing the road and coming to rest on the left shoulder.”

Officials said Robert S. Fones, of Ford, Va., died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.
