HENRICO COUNTY, Va. --Bojangles has issued a response after a Henrico man was given a box full of $4,500 instead of chicken last Friday.

Bojangles told CNN, “We are grateful to our customer for coming forward and returning the money and our franchisee has offered him a reward as a thank you.”

Minor told CBS 6 he was previously offered $100 gift certificate from the company.

“When I opened the box up, the BoJangles’ chicken box, there was probably close to $4500 dollars in cash and also SunTrust deposit slips.”

Minor said he went through the drive-thru at the Nine Mile Road location and got some cold chicken. Minor returned the chicken to get a new batch, but said the second box contained $4,500 and deposit slips.

Minor returned the money, but insisted a manager was not appreciative. “He told me in an arrogant, nasty attitude being disrespectful saying that, ‘We would’ve called the authorities on you, too,’” Minor said.

Bojangles also told CNN the incident "was an unfortunate mistake and our franchisee is reviewing some of their internal procedures to ensure something like this doesn't happen again."
