CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va -- The Chesterfield County Planning Commission voted Tuesday against allowing a Hopkins Road home to change its zoning and become a bed and breakfast.

Neighbors who don't want the bed and breakfast in the neighborhood have voiced concerns about the possibility of a change.

Neighbor Winston Savage said the plan to create the bed and breakfast would bring traffic, noise, and possibly increased crime to the neighborhood.

“When you bring business into the area where people stop and leave, the introduction of crime is a possibility,” said Savage. “You don’t know who’s coming and going into the neighborhood.”

b and bSavage said he would prefer his street remained a residential neighborhood.

The family can still request permission from the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors, if they want to continue to pursue the bed and breakfast.
