NEW YORK -- Six Virginia men are facing charges in New York City for buying nearly 50,000 cartons of cigarettes and selling them tax free in the city. Investigators said the suspects avoided millions in taxes to the state.
Investigators made 20 arrests to people up and down the east coast connected to the cigarette smuggling ring.
Investigators said more than half of the cigarettes sold in New York are untaxed and a majority of them come from Virginia.
