RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are investigating reports of a shooting in South Richmond Sunday evening where eyewitnesses said bullets struck apartment homes shortly after 7:30 p.m.
This happened in the Woodland Crossings apartment complex off Angus and Walmsley Boulevard.
Police said an unoccupied car was also riddled with bullets.
WTVR CBS 6 News is told this is the same area where a bullet went through a woman's home last Thursday. In that case, a mother said the bullet traveled through an outside apartment wall and inside her 11-year-old son’s bedroom.
"He was scooting back on his bed,” said that mom, who asked WTVR CBS 6 to hide her identity, fearing for her family’s safety.
"He felt something under his hand and asked, 'What's this, Momma?' And it was a bullet," she said. "I realized there's a hole in the wall. Someone shot outside and it came through the wall and landed on the bed," she said.
Police confirmed there was a call for service at the Woodland Crossings apartment complex off Walmsley Thursday morning.
That distraught mother said she handed the bullet over to a Richmond police officer.
Neighbors reported they hear random gunfire quite often at the apartment complex, some pointing out this was not the first time that apartment building has been hit by stray bullets.
