RICHMOND, Va. -- Five long days without their pink and white beloved pup, Gucci, and this Northside family said it was agonizing.
Linda White and her cousin Joe'ii Chancellor are convinced someone swiped Gucci, part Maltese and part poodle, from White's yard while she was running around playing.
They got a tip that little Gucci was in a Facebook post, listed for sale, along with another dog.
“This is just like someone's child,” Chancellor said. “You stole someone's heart.”
The man who said he tried to sell Gucci and his own dog on a Facebook post, but with no luck.
He's adamant he didn't steal the dog, and said that Gucci wandered into his yard and he didn't know to whom she belonged.
He said he looked around and since he didn’t see anyone, he assumed she was a stray.
He shared a video on his Facebook page that shows Gucci and his dog playing around.
Meanwhile Gucci’s family and Facebook friends were searching high and low for the dog.
“We couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, we were so restless,” White said. “We had the whole neighborhood looking for him.”
When police and the family tracked the man down he explained he gave Gucci away.
Then, he said he did all he could to get the dog back from a friend in Henrico.
Tips led White and her family to a Henrico home Monday morning where they spotted and recovered their beloved Gucci, and brought her home where they vowed to never let her out of their sight again.
The man has not at this time been charged by Richmond Police.
