MONROE, Michigan — It has been more than six months since Stephen Colbert last filmed a television show. So before Colbert takes over for David Letterman as host of ‘The Late Show,’ he tuned up his hosting skills on a Michigan public access television show. Colbert guest-hosted ‘Only in Monroe,’ a 40-minute public access show in Monroe, Michigan. Not only did he host the show, he brought along a special guest.

“My next guest is a local Michigander who is making a name for himself in the competitive world of music,” Colbert said while introducing music superstar Marshall Mathers, also known as Eminem.

In the near 20-minute interview, Colbert and Eminem went back and forth with hilarious banter about Michigan, music trivia, Eminem’s music, and a more stable career for the rap star. The best part of interview is they both kept a straight face. The show was posted to Colbert’s new Official Late Night YouTube page on Wednesday. Eminem also tweeted about the clip Wednesday afternoon.

Colbert’s debut as the host of  The Late Show on September 8.
