RICHMOND, Va -- Living in North Richmond neighborhood Dill Acres has been a source of frustration for resident Thelma Jackson. That's because Jackson and her neighbors can barely drive down their street before hitting any number of huge potholes littering the main road. These potholes are a stunning three feet wide and two inches deep. They've turned the street into an obstacle course.

"I'm actually ashamed for my friends and my family to come and see where I'm living," Jackson said.

Jackson said she has complained to the City's Department of Public Works and her council member about the problem for months. A group even started a petition with nearly 60 signatures from other residents who want to improve their neighborhood. However, neither Jackson nor the group have seen any results.

"I want them to come out and do what's necessary. Do what's right. Do the right thing because if it were your neighborhood, what would you do?" Dill Acres Gloria Richardson said.

The condos are privately owned, and  not on city property. Still, Richmond City Councilwoman Ellen Robertson said she would work with the City Assessor's Office and the City Attorney's Office to re-invest in that property and repave the street with city dollars.  She also said she wanted to help those neighbors create a Homeowners Association.
