HOPEWELL, Va. —  A man with a “distinctive tattoo” of Jesus with a crown of thorns on his left shoulder is wanted for a Hopewell shoe store robbery, according to police. In addition to the tattoo, officers described the suspect as a 20 to 25-year-old white male with blue eyes and a medium build.

“An offender entered the Shoe Show store located in the Cavalier Square shopping center and asked the clerk about purchasing a pair of shoes,” a Hopewell Police spokesman said. “The offender then pulled out a large knife and demanded money. After receiving money from the register, the suspect fled on foot and was last running south through the parking lot. The clerk was not injured during the robbery.”

The man was last seen wearing flip flops, blue jean shorts and a white tank top, police said.

Anyone with information about this crime was asked to call Hopewell Police at 541-2286.
