FORT WORTH, Tex. – A waitress handed a note to a couple at a restaurant in Texas that left them at a loss for words.
Shaun and Debbie Riddle, who frequent the West Side Cafe in Fort Worth, said they were recently dining when their waitress, Kayla Lane, noticed the couple had not brought their newborn daughter with them.
The couple told the waitress their little girl, Glory, had died about a month earlier after the nine-week-old never woke up from a nap.
After the couple finished their meal, Lane handed them their receipt with a simple statement:
“Your ticket has been paid for. We are terribly sorry for your loss. God Bless. – The West Side.”
Shaun Riddle told KTVTthat he tried to pay for their meal, but Kayla was adamant and refused.
Lane told Riddle the restaurant took care of their tab, but it turns out that Kayla paid for the meal herself, according to KTVT.
In fact, the waitress is known for occasionally picking up customers’ tabs.
