RICHMOND, Va. — Stephanie Rochon, WTVR CBS 6 News anchor since 1999, passed away Wednesday after a months-long battle with cancer. During her time in Richmond, one of her closest friends was colleague Reba Hollingsworth. Reba shared her thoughts and memories following the passing of her best friend.
I have vivid memories of Stephanie calling my home. My husband answered and then said to me “your twin is on the phone” and I knew exactly who it was.
Stephanie was more than a co-worker, she was my best friend, my sister, my twin. When I arrived at WTVR in 2000, Stephanie and I became instant friends. Our bond became stronger as each year passed.
Our lives were intertwined.
We shared countless, precious moments together.
From the births of our children to milestone birthdays, we were inseparable. So, the passing of my dear friend is both surreal and incredibly sad.
Our WTVR CBS 6 News family will miss her tenacity to find a good news story, to ask a ton of questions, and to make sure we got it right. Our newsroom will miss her leadership and her infectious laugh that could be heard from down the hall.
What brought us so much comfort during her final days has been her strength, grace, her signature laugh and that sparkle in her eye to let us know that she’ll always be with us now and forever in our hearts.
I will miss our talks, shopping trips, lunches and mommy getaways.
Most of all, I will miss you, Stephanie. I love you.
