HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- Crews are working to free the driver of a dump truck who became trapped after the vehicle overturned on a ramp to I-295 in Hanover Thursday evening.

Sgt. Steve Vick with Virginia State Police said the wreck happened around 4:50 p.m. at the ramp from Pole Green Road onto the northbound lanes of the interstate.

"The driver was entrapped, fire and rescue are on scene as well as troopers," Vick wrote in an email.

According to Vick, a Henrico County 2007 American trash truck was driving northbound on 295 in the right lane, when it ran off the road to the right striking a Toyota 4x4 pickup truck towing a trailer that was coming down the on ramp from Pole Green Road to northbound 295.

The trash truck had three occupants that were all transported to the VCU Medical Center for minor injuries.

The driver of the trash truck, Oswald L. Morris, 43, of Richmond was charged with reckless driving.

Vick said the ramp would be closed for at least five hours.
