PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. -- A Chesterfield dad, wanted for failing to pay child support, ran from police and prompted a lock down at a Prince George County elementary school, according to Prince George County Police. Additional charges against 48-year-old Ronald Keith White were pending early Thursday afternoon.

White ran from a Virginia State Trooper who was questioning him at the Pilot gas station along the 4600 block of County Drive Thursday morning, Prince George Police said. When White ran to a car and sped off, a Prince George County Police Officer who saw what happened, pursued the fleeing driver.

"An officer attempted to stop [the] white BMW was traveling east on County Drive at a high rate of speed. Ignoring the officer’s signals, a pursuit was initiated that lead from County Drive to southbound Prince George Drive," Prince George Police Captain Brian Kei said.

White eventually drove into the parking lot of South Elementary School on Prince George Drive in Disputanta. There police boxed him in with their police cruisers.

In an attempt to escape, White drove head-on into a police car. When he then got out of his car to run away, police used a Taser on him. Pictures sent from a WTVR CBS 6 viewer showed the crashed vehicles in the parking lot.

The school was placed on lock down for a short time until officers brought the situation under control.

Both White and a Prince George Police officer were taken to Southside Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
