RICHMOND, Va. --  The heat and humidity have made conditions a bit uncomfortable, but combined with a disturbance moving into the area, they will help produce scattered thunderstorms.

Due to the high humidity and slow-moving nature to the storms, locally heavy rainfall will occur.  It is a similar to wringing out a saturated sponge.

Isolated storms may produce strong wind gusts.  The best chance of this will be in northeastern Virginia.  There is little wind shear to work with in the atmosphere today, so tornado potential is extremely low.

The storms will weaken and fade between sunset and midnight.
