RICHMOND, Va. -- A large crowd honored Virginia's fallen heroes at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond during a Memorial Day ceremony. A bell tolled for each of the Virginians killed while serving in the past year.

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe spoke at the event which was attended by many military veterans and their families.

"It hasn't always been easy, but I'm thankful for everyday I get to serve," U.S. Army Captain Benjamin Vonderheide said.
