ROANOKE, Va. -- A home video that showed a police officer chasing his two children in a kids' car has gone viral on Facebook. Roanoke police officer Kenny Bowman told WDBJ7 he originally made the video to share with friends and family, but now that it has gone viral, he hoped the clip helped to send a message to the public.

"The other side of the badge I guess you could call it, we all have families just like most people do," Officer Bowman said. "Show them who you are. Just let people know you can come talk to us about anything. Let us know what's going on in your neighborhood. See if we can help out. "

Bowman, a school resource officer at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke, said he hoped the video helped open the lines of communication between police and the public. His Facebook video has been viewed nearly 200,000 times.
