ASHLAND, Va. — A Spotsylvania woman was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, Possession of Heroin, Driving Without a License and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia following a Friday morning school bus crash. Christina M. Martin, 33, was arrested and taken to Pamunkey Regional Jail following the three-vehicle crash.

“She was bobbing and weaving. I said to myself she is going to kill somebody,” witness Shaia Jones said. “As soon I said it, I saw the collision. Boom!”

The boom Jones heard was Martin’s blue Toyota Camry slamming into the back of a white Jeep Cherokee that had stopped on Route 1 for a school bus with its lights on, Hanover County Sergeant Terry Sullivan said.

“After being struck in the rear, the Jeep Cherokee left the roadway, went through a brick wall and landed on its side,” Sullivan said.

The driver of the Cherokee was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Everyone was so scared. People were crying because they thought the person had died,” Jacob Hooper, one of 24 Patrick Henry High and Liberty Middle student on the bus, said. “I was just praying and hoping that person was okay.”

None of the students on the bus were hurt. A second bus was dispatched to bring the children to school.

Martin is no stranger to law enforcement. Martin appeared in Spotsylvania County court in 2007, 2012, 2013 and 2015 on charges ranging from driving on a suspended license to DWI.
