Man enters Virginia home and sexually assaults 82-year-old woman, investigators say

KING AND QUEEN COUNTY, Va. -- The 22-year-old Tappahannock man was arrested and charged in the "brutal attack" of an 82-year-old King and Queen County woman, according to the King and Queen County Sheriff’s Office. Dakeivus Tyreise Hunter, 22, was charged with Rape By Force, Entering a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Rape, Robbery, Abduction and Grand Larceny following his arrest hours after the attack on Owens Mill Road in St. Stephens Church, Virginia. Chief Deputy W.R. Balderson credited the arrest to an  "overwhelming response from the community." Hunter is being held in the Middle Peninsula Regional Jail in Saluda with no bond.

Investigators announced Hunter's arrest at 10: 30 p.m. Monday. Five hours earlier, they released details on the Monday afternoon attack which began when a man entered the victim's home at about 1:40 p.m.

"He sexually assaulted her, took her wallet and fled the scene in the victim’s car. The car was found abandoned in a corn field, approximately 5 miles from the crime scene," Chief Deputy Balderson said.
