RICHMOND, Va. -- About 50 passengers were evacuated from a US Airways flight traveling from Charlotte to Richmond on Saturday.
The plane landed just after noon when the crew requested an emergency response from the airport.
The plane was towed almost two hours later and passengers on board were evacuated safely and transported by airport shuttles to the terminal building.
The airline said that smoke came from a small lithium battery in a passenger's bag.
