CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. — A 14-year-old Caroline High School student was arrested for selling drugs to other students on the school bus, according to Caroline County Sheriff Tony Lippa. The drugs in question were prescription pills, believed to be a schedule II controlled substance, the sheriff added.

Schedule II drugs are “defined as drugs with a high potential for abuse… with use potentially leading to severe psychological or physical dependence,” according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. Law enforcement sources familiar with the arrest indicated the student was selling Adderall on the bus. Adderall is used to treat ADHD.

“With assistance from the administration of the Caroline County High School and the Caroline County Transportation Department, Caroline narcotics investigators investigated this matter, recovered prescription pills… and arrested a juvenile believed to be responsible for selling these pills to other high school students,” Sheriff Lippa said.

In addition to surprise school drug sweeps, Sheriff Lippa said the Sheriff’s Office provides programs on drug use and abuse for students and assigns schools a resource officer.
