NEW KENT COUNTY, Va -- Multiple crashes have stalled traffic on I-64 heading out of the city in New Kent County Friday evening.

VDOT reports that all lanes are now open on I-64 East after multiple accidents caused major closures during Friday night's commute about two miles west of Bottoms Bridge (mile marker 203).

Officials said traffic at one point was being rerouted at Bottoms Bridge (mile marker 205).

Traffic cameras showed the traffic starting to backup near the I-295 interchange.

Minor injuries were reported -- nothing life-threatening. The Virginia State Police say that the rain was a factor in the crashes.

As of 9:52 p.m., there was a seven-mile backup westbound. The backup eastbound has cleared. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route. Expect delays.
