PETERSBURG, Va. -- Bits of crime scene tape still linger on a door at a motel in Petersburg.

Crime tape

Police were at the Loyalty Inn on South Crater Street around 1 a.m. Saturday after sources tell CBS 6 a man and woman were shot in the head.

“It went from one police officer to nine or ten cars,” said Brandon Absher. “Ambulance they taped everything up it as just crazy."

A woman claiming to be a family member of one of the victims says the male who was shot and killed was her second cousin.

Sources say you could see bloody footprints out of the room.

Meanwhile, things appeared to be quiet at the motel Saturday afternoon, but those staying here are still on edge after what happened.

"I was terrified. I wanted to leave at the time, but they actually blocked it off and said no one was allowed to leave for a certain amount of time," Absher explained.

Absher has two children and used to live at the motel. He says he's never seen anything like it.

"You get your occasional rift raft, but I’ve never heard of anyone shot here,” he said.

Absher added that he fears this incident will change the way people view this motel.

"They didn’t get that much business before all this was going on. I’m sure they are going to be hurting from it,” he said.
