RICHMOND, Va. — Police said three brothers have been arrested after a traffic stop led to an assault on two Richmond police officers Wednesday.

“At approximately 12:59 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of 21st Street and Keswick Avenue,” said Richmond Police spokesman Gene Lepley.

Police said it happened when two officers pulled over Tayvon Taylor. As the officers were taking his license and registration, police said Taylor’s brothers jumped the officers, who issued a Mayday call for backup.

Police said 22-year-old James Taylor and 24-year-old Samuel Taylor, also of the 1800 block of Keswick Avenue, were charged with Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.

Additionally, the driver of the vehicle, 23-year-old Tayvon Taylor, of the 1800 block of Keswick Avenue, was charged with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver, Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of Narcotics, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of Marijuana.
